The patterns and textures that can be seen on walls in industrial parts of a city are often as beautiful as those found in a more "designed" environment. These paintings explore the unpredictable effects of rust, weathering, and even graffiti, on everyday materials.

Buildings evolve. Through time layers are added, signs posted, walls removed - all to accommodate the needs of the day. Every change leaves an imprint which is added to the buildings visual memory. These paintings look at buildings and walls whose memories have been revealed through radical change or demolition.

These paintings depict functional waterside structures where the building module is strong and repetitive, but where the passage of time has added color and pattern in a seemingly chaotic manner.

Kowloon (Hong Kong) used to be one of the worlds largest and densest slums. This series of paintings, done in 1998, explore the endless balconies of a particular high rise building, and the humanizing effect of domestic accessories on a stark architectural module.
